ABSTRACT

Objective@#This study aimed to estimate the clinical effects of different types of bone-anchored maxillary protraction devices by using a network meta-analysis. @*Methods@#We searched seven databases for randomized and controlled clinical trials that compared bone-anchored maxillary protraction with tooth-anchored maxillary protraction interventions or untreated groups up to May 2021. After literature selection, data extraction, and quality assessment, we calculated the mean differences, 95% confidence intervals, and surface under the cumulative ranking scores of eleven indicators. Statistical analysis was performed using R statistical software with the GeMTC package based on the Bayesian framework. @*Results@#Six interventions and 667 patients were involved in 18 studies. In comparison with the tooth-anchored groups, the bone-anchored groups showed significantly more increases in Sella-Nasion-Subspinale (°), Subspinale-Nasion-Supramentale(°) and significantly fewer increases in mandibular plane angle and the labial proclination angle of upper incisors. In comparison with the control group, Sella-NasionSupramentale(°) decreased without any statistical significance in all treated groups. IMPA (angle of lower incisors and mandibular plane) decreased in groups with facemasks and increased in other groups. @*Conclusions@#Bone-anchored maxillary protraction can promote greater maxillary forward movement and correct the Class III intermaxillary relationship better, in addition to showing less clockwise rotation of mandible and labial proclination of upper incisors. However, strengthening anchorage could not inhibit mandibular growth better and the lingual inclination of lower incisors caused by the treatment is related to the use of a facemask.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the application effect of debate teaching in food toxicology teaching. Methods Taking the chapter of mutagenic effect of exogenous chemicals in the course of food toxicology as an example, totally hygiene quarantine specialty undergraduate students from March 2015 to July 2016 in our school for the course of Grade 2014 (n=37),Grade 2013 (n=49) were selected as subjects and conducted debate teaching and traditional teaching comparison. The students of Grade 2014 took the traditional teaching method as the control group, while the students of Grade 2013 took the debate teaching method as the experimental group. After the teaching of two groups, quizzes were used.to evaluate the students' learning of this course. In addition, the students in the debate teaching group were investigated by the questionnaire of the students' satisfaction with the teaching method and the learning performance of the students in the teaching practice at the end of the quiz.T test was conducted on the test scores of two groups of students by SPSS 16.0.Results The average test score of the students in the experimental group was higher than that of the control group [(7.24 ± 0.66) vs.(6.35 ± 0.82),t=5.575,P=0.000].49 questionnaires were issued to the students in the experimental group, and 49 valid questionnaires were recovered. The majority of students believed that the debate teaching method aroused their interest in the course of learning and enhanced their abilities and qualities. Conclusions The application of debate teaching in food toxicology teaching has good effect, and it can train students' comprehensive ability.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate changes in craniomaxillofacial soft and hard tissues following orthodontic treatment by MBT edgewise technique with fix appliance in patients with Angle classⅡdivisionⅠmalocclusion. Methods Fifty patients with Angle classⅡdivisionⅠmalocclusion were selected in this study. All patients were treated with MBT edgewise technique. Cephalometrics tracings were performed before treatment and after treatment. Cephalometrics measurements were statistically analysed by t-test. Results After the orthodontic treatment, the main changes were the reduction of maxillary and mandibular prominence and the increasement of the Pg′B′-FH and Pog-Pog′and upper-lower prominence as well. The appearance of uncovered teeth by their lips was obviously improved. The changes of soft issue profile are the increment of nasolabial angle and the changes among UL-U1, LL-L1 and the E-line. Conclusion Patients with Angle classⅡdivisionⅠmalocclusion have normal overjet and overbite, and also have a better appearance of soft tissue after the extraction treatment.

ABSTRACT

Extraction of teeth is the most basic and widely used operation of oral and maxillofacial surgery. According to characteristics of extraction of teeth, the author views medical ethics principles which in the diagnoses and treatments process from the aspect of medical ethics, they are,①Doctors must intensify their own quality and self - cultivations and establish the idea of " People First ". ②Doctors must carry on the overall and systematic inspection, make the plan of diagnoses and treatments synthetically toimplement the idea of " People First ". ③Doctors should pay attention to interact with patient, meet different patients' demands and create the harmonious medical environment.
